How BISS Works
Selection of new participants
BISS helps parents of children with a disability, people with a disability OR whoever gets sponsored into the program!
So far, BISS has helped over 100 people with disabilities to have an income through baking. Parents of children with disabilities find themselves with an income to take care of their child.
BISS selects new participants through partnering organizations. Are you an organization that helps people in our categories or do you want to help your people? Go to collaborate and contact us.
Training
BISS Bakeries carries out on-location trainings. These training are entirely dedicated to prepare participants to run their own BISS Bakery. Among the things participants learn: Baking of pan-products (samosa, the famous BISS mandazi, chapatti, delicious daddies and more!), baking of oven-products (soft buns, sweet rolls, cookies, several cakes and different types of decorations, biscuits and cookies). Besides the baking aspect, necessary subjects like: costing and profit calculations, sales & marketing, HRM (how do you employ?). The training is majorly practical. Because it’s on-location, it means that baked products are being sold in the neighborhood, where after real profits are being calculated. By the end of the training, the hosting bakery is already up and running!
Start-up-kits
Right after the training, BISS Bakeries delivers the start-up-kits to the participants work location. It includes everything: the oven, working tables, a weighing scale, small equipment for cake deco etc. Besides equipment, it has all ingredients used to start work. Note: it’s up to participants to select and probably rent the location. The location is occupied before the training ends. Team BISS will install the entire bakery, so that right after the training you’ll be up and running immediately. The achieved knowledge won’t sleep.
Bakery Launch
After delivery of the equipment and signing the agreement, we first don’t leave participants to start alone. A dedicated team of Field Officers start with our participants the bakeries. For 1-2 weeks they are on ground to get the bakery up and running.
BISS community
When you become a BISS Baker, you’re never alone! There is a large number of BISS members already doing what you’re just starting. Others will be starting together with you. Bakers are free to contact each other and exchange ideas. BISS organizes regional meetings for bakers to meet and to carry out trainings. BISS is developing her own app, that will help bakers to stay connected and motivate each other. It will also help bakers to manage their business and maintain their working capital.
