I‘m Otukei George Robert, a proud family man from Kumi district. My life’s transformation began when I joined BISS Bakeries, a company that believed in me despite my limitations. As an illiterate, I thought my opportunities were limited to only farming, but BISS saw potential in me. Growing up, I faced numerous challenges. Poverty and lack of education held me back. I struggled to provide for my family, and my children’s education seemed like a distant dream. But I was determined to change our fate. One day, I was invited for a BISS recruitment event. They were looking for passionate individuals willing to learn and grow. Despite my inability to read or write, I was eager to prove myself. The organization took a chance on me, and I vowed to make the most of it. BISS provided me with bakery and business management training, and I quickly learned the art of baking. I also was given a start-up kit to start my bakery. Their team became my family, supporting me through thick and thin. The company’s emphasis on continuous learning helped me develop skills beyond baking. I learned basic numeracy, business management, time management, and teamwork.
Joining BISS has been a blessing. I’m: Educating my children, ensuring they have a brighter future, Purchased a plot of land, securing our family’s stability, Become a respected member of my community, inspiring others with my story and Received recognition as one of BISS’s active bakers, then the Oven has now become my farm since the proceeds from the oven pays a person to do the farm work on my behalf. My journey proves that success is within reach, regardless of your background or circumstances. BISS Bakeries showed me that with determination, hard work, and the right support, anyone can overcome obstacles. I’m forever grateful to BISS for believing in me. I pledge to continue working tirelessly, inspiring others, and making my family proud. My story serves as a testament to the power of resilience and the impact of support from the BISS team.
