Joseline, Kiboga, Central Uganda.
Living in Kiboga town, 120km west to Uganda’s capital Kampala, Mukandoli Joseline was living on her small-scale farm with her husband and their three children. One of their children is the 5-year-old Yowana, who has cerebral palsy. Yowana receives physiotherapy from Namutamba Rehabilitation Centre in Mityana, and through them is how BISS Bakeries got to know Joseline. She joined BISS in August 2023 and likes to share with you:
“My name is Mukandoli Joseline, I’m married and a mother of 3 children. I live in Kiboga town in Uganda. I joined BISS Bakeries in august 2023, after being recruited through Namutamba rehabilitation Centre. I have a son with a disability, Lubega Yowana, 5 years old with cerebral palsy. I was only a subsistence farmer in the village, but when the opportunity came through at the rehabilitation centre, I was inspired to register since I wanted to also learn a skill and stop only depending on agriculture.
BISS Bakeries has given me a new status among my family and friends, I even had to change my location from the village to Kiboga town. Our living standard has changed and I believe that in the long run, I will be able to serve the whole of Kiboga town with my BISS products. My biggest challenges have been on the fact that I had to adjust to a new environment with all my children, but that is part of life and we all are ready to adjust to new living conditions. I would like to call upon other bakers to stay focused and stick to the goal that they set, so that they don’t fail along the way.
