Rehema, Masaka Town, South-west Uganda
In Uganda, retirement has to be achieved by hard work. A few people are lucky to be paid pension once they reach retirement age. Rehema is a widow and grandmother to a child with disabilities. She was found one day trying to sell artworks. Later we found her hawking local pancakes in Masaka town. She seemed someone with the right mentality for a BISS Bakery. Rehema has been very loyal to BISS. Not even once did we have to remind her about the repayment of the Start-up-kits. The money always came in the account in time. After paying her equipment for Pan products, she got a second start-up-kit with an oven and accompanying equipment. She paid the 5.7 million back in less than 2 years. She’s now the proud owner of her bakery in Masaka.
Quote Rehema: “I am a widow taking care of my granddaughter Ariana. Before joining Biss bakeries, I had no economic activity. I joined Biss Bakeries Phase 1 on the 11TH/12/2019. After completion of my Phase 1 Loan I upgraded to Phase 2, and was given a full BISS start-up-kit. I am able to make Ush15,000 daily as profit. Throughout this period, I have been able to be financially independent and improved in my baking skills. I am also able to take care of Ariana (Child with Disability) by providing her basic needs and also my house renovation is near completion, which is a big achievement in my Life, I just want to say thank you to the partners. “
